Increasing Regulations on
Textile Waste Management
Sustainable development goals set by governments worldwide have led to new regulations on textile waste management. For instance, EU countries will require separate collection of textile waste for reuse, preparation for reuse, and recycling starting January 1, 2025. Similarly, in the United States, new regulations will mandate that textile or clothing manufacturers establish producer responsibility organizations to manage and recycle industry waste, with the law expected to take effect on July 1, 2026.
